Questions Answered

Q: When you were a child, did you ever have a recurring dream?

A: Indeed. I dreamt I was in a large factory and the sound of "production" filled my ears. The sound came through giant pipes and at the end of the dream, these pipes filled the entire factory. There was a woman in these dreams who was wearing a brown suit. She held a clip board in her hands and said, over and over again, with fear in her wide eyeballs, "Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok." I would usually wake up terrified at that point.

Q: If you were to choose one color to represent who you are as a person, what would that color be?

A: In the morning it's an energetic orangey-red. By the time I'm ready for bed my hue morphs to tea green.

Q: What is the first thing you want to eat most mornings?

A: Well if I didn't have to worry about saddlebags taking up a majority of my lower torso I'd want to eat a Brooklyn style egg and American cheese sandwich on a soft white roll. But, because I don't want to deal with paying for an extra plane ticket for my ass, I usually crave some kind of vegetable smoothie or a small bowl of high fiber cereal with almond milk.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: I'm reading Beyond the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo. A non-fiction book about the slums of Bombay.

Q: If you were to choose a name other than the one you currently have, what name would that be?

A: I think I'd probably go with something like Gloria Able Sanchez

Q: Are you experiencing any physical discomfort at the moment?

A: I ate an ice cream cone last night and haven't really been eating a dairy at all for months, so I'm feeling a wee bloated today. Also, I have a somewhat dull, but annoying pain in my left foot. But these are insignificant ailments compared to what some people have going on in their bodies.

Q: Can you recommend a song for the world to listen to?

A: This one is pretty fabulous.

Mixed Connections Mashup - Number 23

to that soda area manager....Steven..just want to let you know..you're cute. if somebody knows him, just let him know...We passed on Bogart St., both wearing yellow shirts and exchanging sweet smiles. You may have been smiling at the words on my shirt, but nonetheless I wish we had exchanged some words of our own. Hey...I used to know a guy that would come over to my apartment and play with my body while I pretended to be asleep. It was his fantasy, but I also thought it was really hot. I believe he got married and moved away, but if you are still out there, get in touch with me. Would love to do it again. Or if anyone else wants to try this...or maybe I can try it on you...get in touch with me. No judgements. I'm a good looking masculine muscular divorced greek/italian guy. You were shopping wearing a Blue Jumper, dark hair. I know you married I seen the ring on your finger you got into a gray Honda. Just wanted to say I thought you were beautiful. I could not get you out of my head all day. We were riding downtown this morning on the A train. You were wearing a (Harvard?) t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. When you got on the train, you stood close enough to me to bump my leg a couple of times...and then someone moved and you sat down close enough to rub up against my knee all the way to 14th Street. You're unbelievably cute and I was bummed that you left before I could give you my number. Jack from Manhattan, wondering about the Meso Creso song - It was so nice to meet you and I wish we'd actually gotten time to talk more, but I wanted to put this out there for you. You asked what the song was that I led the group to sing, and you seemed to want to know more about it, so this is for you. It's called "Be Like Him," in English. It is a South African worship song, and you can search for it by typing in Kwabona kala thina so fananaye. And if you look it up, the Kirk Franklin version is amazing. It's actually 3 part harmony plus clapping, stomping and soloists, hollering, etc. I'm the boy in the yellow shirt standing by the water who followed his instincts to the edge of the falls and fell in love with the ambient chatter and soft pitter patter of your gentle beat. I was standing by the water when i lost my quiver from an indian giver and in less than an hour i became a flower disappearing into the landscape
