Periphery

A new project in the hopper. Periphery is a month-long digital pause program curated for those who want to change their relationship to the internet. Those who sign up can expect: Phone conversations. Real mail. Long walks. Interactions with neighbors. Sunsets. Planetary spottings. Enhanced imagination. Impromptu dance parties. Meal lingerings. Paper and pen ramblings. A new appreciation for music. A broader dialogue with the non-human world. Heavy breathing. Guilt-free idleness. Naps. A revitalized and more confident sense of self. Less anxiety. Richer friendships. Shamelessness. Happier pets. Possibly a few new houseplants.

Periphery aims to amplify a positive technology/life balance and provides tools for others to utilize the internet without being used by the internet.

A bulk of the “work” the Periphery program consists of is self-directed, so you’ll be in a heavy-duty conversation with yourself and others you choose to connect with offline. My role in the program is to provide you with the foundational tools - two curated packages that include offline activities and creative prompts, a couple of one on one phone sessions, and numerous hurrahs (yes, pom-poms included).

A flash story I recently wrote called Plans, now up in New World Writing.

And a series of greasewood portraits I took two weeks ago in the Alvord desert:
