Monday's tendrils

Today I'm plowing through the sickly. Shoveling snot. Barricading sneezes. Cracking lips. Hoisting phlegm. Funtimes.

Beckett turned three on Friday. Three years of mammahood have challenged this cabesa of mine like nothing else. She's my little sage. My darling doll. And one of the biggest assholes I know. I love her tremendously. 

My mom is here until tomorrow. She's been an extraordinary help as usual. Covering toss pillows. Bleaching sinks. Jamming out to the Rolling Stones while cooking squash casserole. Giving me tissues for my drippy drippy face. 

That's all I have for right now. Off to take a nap in a sun pile.

I am amazed at how comfortable these socks are. I don't usually like socks to be so high on my calves, but I can barely tell that they are on because the inside is so soft. I have worn them in the heat yet my feet aren't hot. Real wool is worth the money.

... just a telecommuter who gets cold feet in winter. I was actually looking into legwarmers for men, when I found these: They solve the problem. (You might want to buy slippers a size larger, these socks are soft and thick!)

Everyone is complaining that they're tight on the calfs when I read the reviews... I'm a body builder and decided to give it a shot anyways and just gift them if they were too tight. Ordered size 9.5-10 my shoe size(or equivalent forgot exactly might have been a medium or something) I lift 180 lbs on each calf on the leg press machine and it was tight but not even close to cutting off circulation. Will be using these for snowboarding this year, they felt super soft and warm!

A dream

I'm in a parking garage with Beckett. We are climbing up a metal ladder to get to my car. She makes it to the top of the ladder and looks down at me. I tell her to stay right where she is until I am all the way up. There is only a foot or two of space to walk on, and a steep 30 foot drop-off everywhere else. I'm afraid she's going to fall. I try to speed up, but my knee aches. I get to the top of the ladder and again tell her to stay still. She puts her foot out and moves over the edge. I watch her fall. I see her land, face-up, still smiling. I'm terrified as I make my way back down the ladder. I try not to sob. I don't want to see her hurt. I don't want there to be anything wrong with her. I choke back tears and scoop her into my arms. She's still smiling and asking me what is wrong. I hesitate to examine the back of her head for blood and broken bones. I'm too terrified of what I may find. She continues to smile. I pull her in tightly, inhaling her warmth and breath into my own. I wake up.
