One of my former backup singers, Nicole Sangusuree Barrett was struck by a car and killed last week while attending a Buddhist education course in Chang Mai, Thailand. I didn't know Nicole at all when she came over to my house to rehearse for the Traffic Backup performance, but she had a lightness and humor that instantly made it easy to work with her. On top of being a songstress extraordinaire, she was also an activist, artist and poet, advocating for LGBT rights and sustainability. She will be missed indeed.
Traffic Backup is an ongoing performance exploring new ways to make the more mundane activities in life more interesting. In this version of backup, backup singers accompanied (via song) Felicity Fenton through rainy rush hour traffic.Traffic Backup features singers: Felina's Arrow and Nicole Sangsuree and artist and driver, Felicity Fenton.
