On this day, August 15th, 32 years ago, I was born into the plump earth. On the same day in 927, the Saracens conquered and destroyed Taranto; in 1185, the cave city of Vardzia was consecrated by Queen Tamar of Georgia; in 1537, Asunción, Paraguay, was founded; in 1947, India gained independence from the United Kingdom; and in 1960, the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville) became independent from France. To commemorate my birth and other 8-15 happenings, I shall don a high tiara, golden shoes, and twirlstache, and saunter along suburban roads in search of absolutely nothing at all. Perhaps later I'll eat My Quang, slurp grape wine, and roll around the dusty floor with two cats I now know pretty well.
