A recap of 4 days in Los Angeles:
We arrived at our sweet little Echo Park bungalow after a 3.5 hour flight delay, 2 hour flight, 2 hour car rental line and 2 hour traffic jam where I observed the automobile obsessed city from a window.
Beckett projectile vomited on herself (and me) three times while dining at Mohawk Bend. It was orange and chunky and I couldn't get the kiddy puke smell off of me for a couple of days. Our neighboring diners weren't impressed.
We rented a boat and happily paddled around Echo Park Lake. The very next day a women's body was found floating in that lake.
After a four hour drive in traffic, we attended Michael's show at the Sylvia White Gallery in Ventura, and later met old friends for falafel and beer. The next morning we wandered out onto the Ventura Pier and watched the fishermen reel in invisible fish.
We attended a wave-country music set at The Echo and while I stared shamelessly at all the men and women dressed like Stevie Nicks, Beckett danced under a shimmery disco ball.
The highlight of the trip was the Mike Kelley retrospective at the MOCA. It was one of the best exhibits I've ever seen. Hands down. RIP Banana man!
