Coastal Creature

I'm the kind of mammalian creature who prefers to live close to the ocean. It provides me a sense of freedom and space that I don't feel like I can get in a land-locked place.

This weekend we treated ourselves to a night away on Cannon Beach at the Oregon Coast. It's a stunning scene indeedy. Pictures from our little getaway below:

Remember to Remember

The giant pile of books that I left to a man with a van who then sold them to a man with a bookstore table who then sold them to passerby on 5th avenue in Brooklyn.

The warm rush of blood in my mouth after falling on my face while attempting to flip upside down on rollerskates.

Having my head forced into the crotch of a teenage boy I never liked.

The crunchy/feathery texture of the fermented duck egg I took a single bite of in a back alley in Danang.

Inhaling the smell of India for the first time - incense, trash, animals, sweat, dust, diesel, curry and shit.

Riding the rickety Cyclone roller coaster in Coney Island at least once every summer for a decade.

A crazed growling man standing on the corner of a street in Vancouver BC, gritting his teeth, attempting to cross, stepping one leg out slowly, only seconds later to return that leg, stuck.

Running along a buried train track in the trees of Vermont.

Being nude and alone on a Lesvos beach reading Sense and Sensibility.

Pushing a baby from my loins and watching her come out in a giant golden framed mirror.

GIngerleewalker the orange kitten who died of kidney failure just three weeks after adopting her.
