Words I didn't know before today: Quiché - a member of a people inhabiting the western highlands of Guatemala.

asdic - an early form of sonar used to detect submarines.

pilei - the cap of a mushroom or toadstool.

kickshaw - a fancy but insubstantial cooked dish, esp. one of foreign origin.

fabliau - a metrical tale, typically a bawdily humorous one, of a type found chiefly in early French poetry.

hadada - a large gray-brown African ibis with iridescent patches on the wings and a loud, harsh call.

kibitz - look on and offer unwelcome advice, esp. at a card game.
