(Found) Gerbil Obituaries: End of another era. Smokey, the gerbil who came to stay with me a couple of weeks ago has died. I've looked after him and his brother, The Bandit, for a few years now, whenever their owners were on holiday. Bandit died earlier this year, possibly after a stroke and I think Smokey just died from old age to be honest. His owners thought he was about 4 years old and although he was still active, he did look very tiny and frail when he was here recently. They were very cute. Sweet dreams guys.
My little rascal Tinks died through the night . I found her this morning peacefully sleeping. I`m not sure how old she was but she had shown signs of old age lately. She was a TINKER , she really was! Always full of life so I shall miss her very much ! Sweet dreams my angel. Rest peacefully XXX
Last night around tea time poor little Ernie past away :( Poor little guy, he was one of two that i was looking after for a friend. I feel so guilty because i was thinking of having him put to sleep last week as he seemed to have gone down hill so quick. But you know how a hard decision that is to make. It's like signing a death warrant, stupid me thought he would pull through eventually. To think that he could have been going through hell makes me feel even more guilty. So now i've learned something from this, it's better for the animal to be put to sleep rather than hanging on when it's more than lightly they are going to suffer a misserable death, and anyway his owner was on holiday and i didn't like to kind of take over and make that choice without his say so. But i guess he would have been ok with it, OH how stupid have i been! No more though, hard decision or not, i'm going to have to be tougher now in these situations since i've 5 more gerbils or 4 if Erics owner wants him back, but i'm happy to adopt him for good. He's at peace now thankfully and i've buried him near my bluebells with Bertie and Dougal. RIP little guys mummy loves you.
Came downstairs on Friday (the 13th) to find Tweasel passed away in his tank. He was already four when I got him just before Christmas so not entirely unexpected but still sad. RIP Tweasel, hope you found the food bowl to sit in really quickly.
Mystery went to join his brother, Mystic, at the bridge yesterday morning just after I got up. I knew he was dying, he'd had a URI that wouldn't clear up after 3 rounds of 2 different antibiotics. When I talked to the vet he figured it was probably a tumour or something along those lines. Over the last day or so there did seem to be a mass of some type in the lung area on him so I guess that's what it was. He died snuggled up in a towel with a warm magic bag under it on me, just like Moe did a few weeks ago. His approximate 4th Birthday was about 2 weeks ago. RIP little dude.
