Journal

fingerprints.jpg

This is a summary of what my day looked like five years ago: - Woke up to a beating sun on my feet.

- Drank coffee without caffeine to sooth my vices; sipped and thought and sipped an thought some more.

- Watered the garden with a cracked green hose. Pulled trash from the soil. Talked to seeds.

- Read parts of a Harpers magazine.

- Called up friends and asked them how they were.

- Sat around in my underwear continuing to sip on cold coffee, contemplated leaving the house.

- Dressed myself in sweatproof gear for some anatomical motion.

- At the gym I raced people (who weren't aware of our competition) on treadmills.

- Ate an egg, toast and an apple.

- Wrote a story about a man obsessed with cleaning fingerprints from windows.

- Danced while mopping the floor.

- Cleaned the bathroom while listening to Neil Young.

- Ate a piece of cheese.

- Attempted to string together a song on a four-track recorder.

- Met my friends for dinner and talk.

- Found comfort in the arms and legs of a man friend.

- Dreamed of steel bridges and vast water passages in China.
