Deep in the boonies of Wiscosin, Josh who was in high school, had a plan. He hatched this plan in marching practice one day. The tuba was Josh's instrument of choice. It didn't require alot of playing and gave him plenty of time to daydream. Josh often daydreamed about his high school crush, Amber, who had never taken notice of him when he walked in the halls with his tuba. She didn't even take note that he was in her Spanish class. Josh, as shy as he was, was also brave and sincere. He knew a gesture needed to be made in order for Amber to ever notice him. Light headed from playing a few notes, he continued to play until his epiphany came - a way to make Amber notice him - he would take a photo, not a one time use camera photo, but a portrait that would really impress. The next day after band practice, he went to the closest mall, an hour away in Sunnybrook, where Glamour Shots took his portrait. A confident Romeo with a beachy backdrop would surely entice Amber. He looked good, suave, like he had released a hidden alter ego. Pleased with the results, he had 300 photos printed. The next day before home room, he put a photo in every locker beginning with Amber's. You can imagine the stir when the bell rang. Everyone in school was pondering and gossiping about who this mysterious sexy guy was. Boys wanted to be him and girls wanted to run away with him, especially Amber. For her it was the palm trees in the backdrop. Josh had remembered Amber's speech in Spanish class about a family vacation to Miami and how much she loved it. He also knew she was as desperate to leave Wisconsin as he was.
Everything was in motion according to Josh's genius plan until a talent scout from LA arrived in the boonies to scout talent for an MTV reality show called "made" discovered who the mysterious hunk was in the photo. The scout confronted Josh in his light pink ranch style home and amongst the faux sunflower lawn ornaments that swirled in the breeze, he offered Josh a lifetime modeling contract on the spot on the "Made" show. Josh agreed, seeing as it was a perfect way out of the boonies. MTV's "Made" followed Josh through his "typical week" of junior high school, but now that Josh was a celebrity, the camera crew carried his tuba and he was mobbed by girls. Out of all the girls, Amber still had not approached him. Far too intimidated, she believed "this guy would never go for me".While the reality show was being taped, he talked about Amber constantly thinking that when the show aired and Amber saw his heartfelt confessions that they would be together at last. Due to the edits, the MTV producers did not include any of Josh's pining for they believed it was a bad career move. Josh had no knowledge of this because his modeling career had gotten so busy he couldn't watch the show. Broken hearted, he lost hope in love and enjoyed the culture outside of the boonies.
Amber, now married with eight kids in Wisconsin keeps the photo in a pink heart shaped box under her bed and dreams of living in Miami under the palm trees in a gold bikini with her true romeo.
